Accidental Innovation: An Entrepreneurial Story
Who better to change healthcare than bedside nurses? Learn how Adam went from a pediatric ER travel nurse to innovator and entrepreneur and is changing healthcare in children on a national scale.
As a travel nurse, Adam recognized consistent delays in care for infants and newborns due to missed IV attempts. With his background as a pediatric ER nurse, he knew there was a better solution—using transillumination, or vein lights. In 2020, amid international shipping restrictions, Adam built his first portable vein light in his garage. He went on to train an entire adult ER staff not only how to place IVs in infants, but how to do so successfully. From that point, the vision to transform pediatric healthcare was born, marking the beginning of what would eventually become Firefly.

Talk First, Chart Later: Strengthening Patient Communication for Better Outcomes
As a travel clinician, you’re constantly adapting to new environments, systems, and teams, but one thing remains the same: your ability to connect with patients. Join Patti Artley, CNO at Medical Solutions, to explore how to bring warmth, clarity, and confidence to patient conversations, even in the toughest moments. Let’s bridge the gap between technology and human care because patients don’t just need treatment, they need understanding.
Technology has revolutionized healthcare delivery, but it has also introduced unintended challenges—particularly in the way clinicians connect with patients. With electronic documentation often demanding more attention than the patient in front of them, healthcare providers may overlook critical nonverbal cues and find it increasingly difficult to engage in meaningful, sensitive conversations. This session will explore practical strategies to enhance bedside communication and patient engagement in the digital age. Attendees will learn best practices for maintaining human connection while navigating technology, techniques for handling difficult discussions with compassion and clarity, and ways to promote transparency and rebuild trust in the patient-provider relationship.

Tax Homes: What can be Defended in Audits
While Joseph covers the technical details of Tax Homes for Travelers, Donna goes into the questions about what can be defended in an audit. What a tax preparer needs to have, and what a traveler needs to do is important know to protect both parties in a potential IRS audit.
While Joseph addresses the technical aspects of establishing and maintaining a Tax Home for healthcare travelers, Donna delves into the equally critical area of audit preparedness.
